The inspiration for this painting was the core memories of the summers that smelled like night air and freedom. Some of us mastered the art of sneaking out, sorry Mom!! We headed to the outskirts of town tucked between mountains and the river. Most of us were there to feel like we actually belonged somewhere. I think the rest just wanted to escape from something. I wanted both. I’m an outsider.
